Dial Indicator Calibration Services
A thousandth per tick — until gear wear starts stealing ticks.
ACS Calibration delivers NIST-traceable, audit-ready dial indicator calibration, available at the ACS central lab or directly on-site at facilities across the Southeast. Calipers, micrometers, height gages, and indicators are all on our accredited dimensional scope, so ISO/IEC 17025 accredited certificates are available on request.
Where the Ticks Go Wrong
A dial indicator is a gear train wearing a wristwatch face: rack, pinions, hairspring, jeweled bearings. Wear anywhere in the train shows up as hysteresis — a needle that reads differently coming up than coming down — and a sticking plunger turns smooth part surfaces into phantom steps. The face still looks precise; the mechanism underneath has opinions.
We calibrate dial indicators through 4 inches of travel under our accredited dimensional scope, at multiple points in both directions, with as-found and as-left data — so hysteresis and repeatability are numbers on a certificate, not surprises in a runout check.
The test indicators doing finer work and the rest of the indicator family calibrate alongside — and if the indicator lives on a height gage or magnetic base, sending the pair keeps the whole setup coherent.
What You Get With Every Calibration
- NIST-traceable calibration certificate with real measurement data — not just a pass/fail sticker
- As-found and as-left readings, so drift is documented
- ISO/IEC 17025 accredited certificate with reported uncertainty — on request
- Calibration label with due date, plus a reminder before your next calibration is due
Why Companies Choose ACS for Dial Indicator Calibration
NIST-Traceable, Accredited on Request
Every calibration is NIST-traceable with real measurement data. Calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators, pin gages, and feeler gages are on our ISO/IEC 17025 accredited dimensional scope — accredited certificates available whenever your quality system requires them.
